Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (Individuals)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a third wave behavioural approach to your health and wellbeing. This approach helps you develop a better relationship with your thoughts and feelings so that you can focus your energy on your valued path.
Many of us have been taught that there is something wrong with our thoughts and feelings. You may believe, to improve your life, your thoughts and feelings must change. The battle that ensues to control these internal experiences is never ending and takes time and energy away from pursuing valued goals.
The most direct path to your desired life is learning how to be with your thoughts and feelings and focusing your energy on valued goals. With support, you can establish a new relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings, freeing you to pursue a life you value.
Emotion Focused Therapy (Couples/Family)
When participating in couples or family therapy the relationship is the client. I will focus on problematic cycles that occur within the relationship that are hurting the relationship. By slowing down the process, I will help you acknowledge the thoughts and feelings that fuel negative interactions. As you and your family members become more aware of the negative cycle, you will become empowered to generate a more helpful pattern of relating with one another that brings you closer together.
